We got tired of being surprised
Depentra exists so that no programme manager ever again learns about a six-week cascade from a status report.
Our mission
Make every dependency visible and every delay predictable, so programme teams spend their energy on delivery instead of damage control.
The founding story
In 2021, our co-founder Elena Marsh was running a payments migration across five delivery groups. A vendor slipped two weeks on an integration task. The spreadsheet said it was fine. Six weeks later, the programme end date had moved by two months, because that one task quietly fed eleven others across three teams, and nobody had a tool that could show the chain.
Elena and Marcus Chen built the first version of Depentra to answer one question: if this task slips, what else moves? Everything since, the Gantt engine, the Impact Matrix, the critical path, resources, risks, and budget, exists in service of answering that question faster and more completely.
The problem we solve
Programmes rarely fail because of the task that slipped. They fail because of the tasks downstream nobody knew were connected. Depentra makes those connections explicit, scores the risk they carry, and lets you rehearse a delay before you accept it.
The team
Elena Marsh
Co-founder and CEO
Former programme director who ran three core banking migrations and swore never to be surprised by a cascade again.
Marcus Chen
Co-founder and CTO
Built scheduling engines for aerospace supply chains before deciding programme teams deserved the same rigour.
Priya Raman
Head of Product
Ex-PMO lead obsessed with the gap between what tools report and what programmes actually do.
Kwame Mensah
Head of Engineering
Leads the team that made 600-task Gantt charts render in under a second.
Sofia Reyes
Head of Customer Success
Has personally onboarded more than 400 programme teams onto Depentra.
Tom Barratt
Head of Security
Keeps Depentra SOC 2 compliant and your data encrypted, audited, and boring.
What we value
See it coming
Every feature exists to move information from "we found out too late" to "we saw it coming". Foresight is the product.
Plain English
No jargon in the interface, no mystery in the pricing, no legalese where a sentence will do.
Respect the plan
The plan of record is sacred. Simulation is sandboxed, changes are audited, and undo is always one click away.
Fast is a feature
A tool you wait for is a tool you stop using. Sub-second renders and 500ms propagation are requirements, not aspirations.
Milestones
2022
Founded in London after one delay cascade too many. First prototype: a dependency graph drawn on a whiteboard, photographed, and never updated again.
2023
Public launch with Gantt, dependencies, and the first version of the Delay Simulator. First 100 customers.
2024
Impact Matrix with transitive cascade scoring ships. Team grows to 20. SOC 2 Type II certification achieved.
2025
Resource management, Risk Register, and full earned value budget tracking ship. 1,000th customer onboarded.
2026
Version 4: portfolio management, Customer Portal, join codes, and a rewritten Gantt engine. 2,400+ programme teams on board.
